NBA Scouting Live’s 2026 NBA Mock Draft (1st Round)
1. Washington Wizards (Alan Lu) – AJ Dybantsa, F, BYU
A team that struggled on most sides of the ball, they are an odd team that has a working young core group of players in Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, and Will Riley, mixed in with star players in Trae Young and the oft-injured Anthony Davis, but it remains to be seen if the Wizards can see this progress in win totals in the future.
AJ Dybantsa is a tremendously athletic forward that can really score the basketball, and he is a rangy defender that can cover plenty of ground. His shot selection may leave something to be desired, but he’s probably the best bet of any prospect here to become a superstar in the NBA.
2. Utah Jazz (Richard Lu) – Cameron Boozer, F, Duke
The Utah Jazz really excel at ball movement, but they were really bad as a defensive unit last year, which was surprising considering they had Walker Kessler, a very tall, shot blocking ace, but Jackson only managed to play a few games before getting hurt for the rest of the year. They have a solid core in Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr., Ace Bailey, and Walker Kessler, as well as some promising guards in Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier, and they will need to add to this group.
Cameron Boozer is a super skilled forward that can score in a variety of ways, is a terrific passer, and is fundamentally sound. He doesn’t make as many spectacular plays as some of the other top prospects, but he is consistently efficient and makes sound decisions, which makes him very likely to be a top 3 pick.
3. Memphis Grizzlies (Alan Lu) – Darryn Peterson, G, Kansas
The Memphis Grizzlies are a team that’s built around star point guard, Ja Morant, who has once helped them get far, but his erratic off-court behavior and injury-prone tendencies have hurt them more often than helped recently. It doesn’t help that the Grizzlies have made some seemingly self-sabotaging moves by trading away players like Desmond Bane, but they also have added some other talented players such as Jaylen Wells and Cedric Coward to their stable. But at this stage, it looks increasingly unlikely that they could win the championship with Morant as their best player.
Darryn Peterson is a very athletic, skilled guard who has great two-way potential and can really score the basketball, but he’s been injury-prone and has struggled to stay healthy. He’s a solid bet to succeed, and when healthy, he’s proven to be a reliably strong performer in games.
4. Chicago Bulls (Richard Lu) – Caleb Wilson, F-C, North Carolina
The Bulls have a crew of offensive minded players, but they really struggled defensively last season. They will look to build around Josh Giddey, Coby White, and Matas Buzelis, and some of their other players such as Leonard Miller came on strong last season. They also hired Tiago Splitter to be their coach, so they will look to keep rebuilding their infrastructure.
Caleb Wilson is a very tall, super athletic forward that excels at attacking the hoop to score the basketball, and he is a rangy defender that can turn defense into offense for his team. He is a high-flyer that has ridiculous upside, and he could likely be a top 5 pick.
5. Los Angeles Clippers (Alan Lu) – Darius Acuff, G, Arkansas
The Clippers are a team that’s at a crossroads for a while now, maybe ever since they’ve lost to the Denver Nuggets in the 2020 Orlando bubble. Yes, they have Kawhi Leonard, a former superstar that’s helped two franchises win the NBA championship. But the Clippers haven’t been a relevant team for the past several years, and Kawhi has been especially injury-prone, arguably ever since Zaza Pachulia stepped on his foot in a playoff game. While the Clippers did manage to get Darius Garland after trading away James Harden, the Clippers have been trending downhill, and their defense continues to get worse with each passing year.
Darius Acuff is an athletic, very skilled combo guard that is a superb scorer, and he can shoot it from anywhere on the floor. In a league where the Jalen Brunson-type has become increasingly valuable, Acuff is a very gifted prospect that could end up being taken higher than expected.
6. Brooklyn Nets (Richard Lu) – Keaton Wagler, G, Illinois
The Brooklyn Nets are a very young team in which it’s unclear what their core is, but Michael Porter Jr. is a winner, and he, Nic Claxton, and Terance Mann were the team’s best players this past season. They also have two former top-10 picks in Egor Demin and Ziaire Williams, and both players are tall, skilled playmakers that have considerable upside.
Keaton Wagler is a smart, super skilled guard that helped lead Illinois to the Final Four. He is gifted with the ball in his hands, as he can really shoot it and score in a variety of ways, and he is a superb facilitator, as he can reliably run the point. He’s a functional defender, and he is a safe pick that will likely end up being a very good player in the league.
7. Sacramento Kings (Alan Lu) – Kingston Flemings, G, Houston
When Domantas Sabonis got hurt, the Kings were doomed to have a bad season, as they missed the playoffs, but just how bad was probably beyond anyone’s imagination. They ended up being far from contention, and they have a mishmash of young and old players on their roster, with reuniting Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan suddenly raising eyebrows amongst the basketball community.
Kingston Flemings is an athletic, energetic point guard that has very good two-way potential, and he is a gritty playmaker that competes hard on both ends of the floor. He defends very well for his position, and he could end up being a very solid player in this league.
8. Atlanta Hawks (Alan Lu) – Mikel Brown Jr., G, Louisville
The Hawks actually overachieved and had a surprisingly pretty good season, even in spite of trading away longtime star guard, Trae Young. The Hawks have rebuilt their team around Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels, with Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Onyeka Okongwu providing huge dividends for them, and they also added Jonathan Kuminga to give their team a boost. They are a solid young team on the rise, and they also still have former number one overall pick, Zaccharie Risacher on their roster.
Mikel Brown Jr. is an athletic, skilled point guard that can really score the basketball, and has very solid two-way potential. He’s struggled to stay healthy, but he’s already mastered the fine arts of free throw drawing, so he already has what it takes to become a really good pro.
9. Dallas Mavericks (Richard Lu) – Yaxel Lendeborg, F, Michigan
Ever since winning the 2011 NBA championship, the Mavericks have had some of the biggest bungles in modern NBA history. They’ve traded away their franchise superstar Luka Doncic for the oft-injured Anthony Davis, and then they sold Davis off to the Wizards this year at the trade deadline. On top of the list is the Mavericks’ decision to let Jalen Brunson go to the Knicks, even after he practically single-handedly helped Dallas win two games against Utah in his last season with the Mavericks. Dallas hasn’t made very many good moves recently, but they have rising star forward in Cooper Flagg, who is the reigning Rookie of the Year award winner, so they’ll build around him.
Yaxel Lendeborg is a tall, athletic do-it-all forward that helped Michigan win the National Championship. He is a high-motor player that can pass and handle the basketball, can really help his team on the glass, and he is a rangy defender that can play shutdown defense. His versatility will be a definite plus at the next level.
10. Milwaukee Bucks (Alan Lu) – Nate Ament, F, Tennessee
The Bucks might be trending towards needing a reset, because after their 2021 championship, they’ve made a series of baffling moves in which their superstar forward Giannis is surrounded by an underwhelming supporting cast around him, and the Bucks haven’t shown they can build around him recently, so there’s an off chance they may possibly need to start over.
Nate Ament is a very tall, skilled forward that has very solid two-way potential. He can score the basketball in a variety of ways, and he can guard multiple positions. He didn’t quite shoot as well from the outside as expected, but his versatility and unique skill set could lend him to being a very solid player in this league.
11. Golden State Warriors (Richard Lu) – Aday Mara, C, Michigan
The Warriors are a team that’s probably past their prime. They do have some key personnel from their championship days, Stephen Curry, head coach Steve Kerr, Draymond Green, other key role players, while they also have stars in Jimmy Butler and Kristaps Porzingis to aid them, but their players have had trouble staying healthy, and the Warriors’ track record with young players has been hit or miss. At this spot, they’ll need the next player to buy into the system.
Aday Mara is a very tall, skilled center that helped Michigan win the National Championship. He is a superb passer that can make plays above the rim and score out of the post, and he is a gifted shot blocker that will help his team protect the paint. He had a tremendous season, and he is one of the most polished players heading into this draft.
12. Oklahoma City Thunder (Richard Lu) – Cameron Carr, G-F, Baylor
The Thunder were considered the favorite heading in, but they lost a hard-fought series to the San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder still has the reigning two-time MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as well as defensive ace Chet Holmgren, and a healthy Jalen Williams will definitely help them significantly next season.
Cameron Carr is an athletic, skilled swingman that can shoot and score the basketball, and has very solid two-way potential. He’s older than most of the top prospects, but he is a polished prospect that could be ready to make an impact right away.
13. Miami Heat (Alan Lu) – Karim Lopez, F, New Zealand (Mexico)
For a team that is supposed to be in sort of a rebuilding year, they did pretty well for themselves. Bam Adebayo levelled up and became a superstar by scoring 83 points in a regular season win over the Wizards, and he, Andrew Wiggins and Tyler Herro make up an interesting core. Kel’el Ware continued to impress and develop, but the Heat missed the playoffs due to being in a very competitive Eastern Conference.
Karim Lopez is a tough, gritty forward who played in the NBL in Australia, and he is a versatile, do-it-all forward that projects to be the consummate role player in the NBA.
14. Charlotte Hornets (Alan Lu) – Morez Johnson Jr., F-C, Michigan
The Hornets had something of a small resurgence as their stars LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel guided them to a strong offensive year and to a play-in tournament berth, where they lost and barely missed the playoffs. They were a good shooting team, but they will still need to improve their team defense and depth in the meantime.
Morez Johnson Jr. is a very athletic, energetic big man that helped Michigan win the National Championship. He excels at making hustle plays on both ends of the floor, and he is also a very good rebounder and shot blocker. He is a player that can do a little bit of everything, and he could end up being a very solid player in the association.
15. Chicago Bulls (Richard Lu) – Brayden Burries, G, Arizona
The Bulls are clearly in rebuilding mode, but even so, they have some solid pieces to work with. They hired a head coach who had a very good season, and Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey, and Coby White give them an intriguing core to work with.
Brayden Burries is a very skilled, sharpshooting guard that can knock down shots from anywhere. He is a crafty scorer that can fill up the nets, and he could be a lock to go in the lottery.
16. Memphis Grizzlies (Alan Lu) – Allen Graves, F, Santa Clara
The Memphis Grizzlies appear to be at a crossroads, where their moves indicate they may be rebuilding, but they’ve also held onto Ja Morant, which suggests they may hold onto the lingering hope of possibly making the playoffs. In any case, they will probably make a move to select who they deem as the best player available.
Allen Graves is a skilled forward that has a great deal of versatility, and he was super efficient at Santa Clara. He’s not the most athletic player, but he is a smooth player that can score, move the ball, and defend, which could enable him to be the consummate role player in the NBA.
17. Oklahoma City Thunder (Richard Lu) – Chris Cenac Jr., F-C, Houston
Chris Cenac Jr. is an athletic, skilled big man that had an up and down season at Houston, but his skill set and versatility make him an intriguing prospect. He’s a very skilled low post scorer that can shoot from the outside, and he is an unselfish player that can make athletic plays on both sides of the court. He’ll need to be a much more consistent player, but his skill set and upside could enable him to develop into a solid starter in the NBA.
18. Charlotte Hornets (Alan Lu) – Isaiah Evans, G-F, Duke
Isaiah Evans is an athletic, skilled sharpshooting swingman that can really shoot and score the basketball, and he’s improved in the other facets of the game. His shooting has taken a bit of a dip this year, but he is an athletic, movement shooter that could project well into a 3 and D role in the NBA, and he’s versatile enough of a scorer to really be a legitimate asset on offense.
19. Toronto Raptors (Richard Lu) – Labaron Philon, G, Alabama
The Raptors are a strong defensive team that received very good seasons from Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Brandon Ingram also helped them to make the playoffs. They also move the ball well, but they will need to continue to improve on the offensive end.
Labaron Philon is a very athletic, skilled point guard that had a very good sophomore season at Alabama. He can score the basketball, especially as a downhill driver, and he also has shown solid playmaking and defensive skills. He is a speedster that can quickly get to the rim, and an improved outside shot could make him one of the best players in this draft.
20. San Antonio Spurs (Richard Lu) – Hannes Steinbach, F-C, Washington
The Spurs had a really good season, as their unicorn superstar center Victor Wembanyama led them to the NBA Finals. They ended up losing to the Knicks there, and they will need to continue to add more firepower and seasoning to their team, but their franchise is in great shape and very good hands.
Hannes Steinbach is a mobile, skilled forward that has a terrific motor, and he is an excellent rebounder. He can score in a variety of ways, and while he’ll need to be more consistent in games, he is a versatile player that could be a very solid player in the NBA.
21. Detroit Pistons (Richard Lu) – Christian Anderson, G, TCU
The Detroit Pistons had a very good season, as they earned the first seed in the East, and their superstar tandem of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren quickly helped win many more games than expected. Still, they’ll need to continue to add to their talent pool and will need to improve offensively.
Christian Anderson is a tough, gritty scoring guard that can shoot and score the basketball. He can fill up the nets, and his ability to knock down shots and make plays on both ends of the floor could enable him to be a solid player in this league.
22. Philadelphia 76ers (Alan Lu) – Jayden Quaintance, F, Kentucky
The 76ers might be back. They had a pretty good season, went a little further than expected, and Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid led their team to get back to the playoffs, where they surprisingly defeated the Celtics in the first round before losing to the eventual NBA champions in the next round. Still, they’ll need to find a way to stay healthy and continue to bolster their talent and depth.
Jayden Quaintance is a young, athletic high-motor big man that had a very good freshman season at Arizona State before transferring to Kentucky. Unfortunately, he didn’t play much due to being hurt for most of the season. When healthy, he’s proven to be a very athletic forward that can excel as a rim runner and rim protector, and Quaintance could end up being a reliable energy big man in the NBA.
23. Atlanta Hawks (Alan Lu) – Meleek Thomas, G, Arkansas
Meleek Thomas is an agile, skilled sharpshooting combo guard that can fill up the nets. He played off the ball alongside Acuff, and he is a crafty scorer that can be a sneaky good pick in the mid to late first round of this year’s draft.
24. New York Knicks (Alan Lu) – Alex Karaban, F, Connecticut
The New York Knicks are the reigning champions, and so they are coming off the highest of highs, so most likely, they will take the best player available here.
Alex Karaban is a smart, skilled forward that projects very well into a 3 and D role in the NBA. He excels as a movement shooter, has a knack for making sound decisions, and he is a good defender. He’s not super athletic, but his ability to step up and consistently make plays makes him a likely bet to succeed as a solid role player in the NBA.
25. Los Angeles Lakers (Richard Lu) – Henri Veesaar, F-C, North Carolina
The Lakers seem to be on the two timelines, where they are building around superstar Luka Doncic, but they also are building around aging superstar LeBron James, and they aren’t getting any younger. On top of it, their head coach J.J. Redick just doesn’t seem to trust his bench or depth enough in big playoff games. The Lakers may be sort of at a crossroads, and they’ll need to figure out how to deepen their talent and depth without missing a beat.
Henri Veesar is an athletic, skilled big man that had a strong season at North Carolina. He can score the basketball in a variety of ways, and he has plus-level rebounding and defensive skills. His basketball IQ, skill set, and versatility could enable him to be a reliable contributor in the league.
26. Denver Nuggets (Alan Lu) – Sergio de Larrea, G, Valencia Basket (Spain)
Nikola Jokic is still one of the best players in the NBA, and he’s one of the five best players in the world. But the Nuggets have continually lost talent and depth over the years, and their players have become more injury prone, so they’ll need to draft someone that their coach can trust in big moments.
Sergio De Larrea is a tall, skilled playmaker that has a very solid set of offensive skills. He played overseas in Spain, and his high basketball IQ combined with his skill set and ability to play multiple positions could make him a likely first round pick in this draft.
27. Boston Celtics (Richard Lu) – Joshua Jefferson, F, Iowa State
The Celtics surprisingly lost in the first round of the playoffs. They did absolutely rush Jayson Tatum back prematurely, but it was assumed they still had enough talent and depth to make a deep run. Maybe they did not. They also made curious coaching moves, in which they started three unproven players in a decisive Game 7 to make things worse. Moving forward, they’ll need more reliable production out of their players and coach to ensure they’ll make a deep run next year.
Joshua Jefferson is a smart, skilled big man that has really ramped up his production for Iowa State, and he is a tall, mobile stat-stuffing point forward that can rack up assists, and he also has shown an improved outside shot. He’s not super athletic, but his ability to make hustle plays and facilitate makes him an intriguing role player for the NBA.
28. Minnesota Timberwolves (Richard Lu) – Bennett Stirtz, G, Iowa
The Timberwolves a strong defensive team, and they have Rudy Gobert and Jalen McDaniels to thank for that. Anthony Edwards is a high-flying superstar that helped his team defeat Denver in the first round, and Naz Reid is a versatile scoring big man that can get buckets. Ayo Dosunmu dropped 43 in a playoff game. But to get to the next level, they’ll need to find a way to stop the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama in games…somehow.
Bennett Stirtz is a skilled, crafty playmaker that played well at Iowa, and he can shoot, score, and distribute the basketball. He’s not the most athletic player, but he is a savvy guard that can step in right away and be a reliable contributor in the league.
29. Cleveland Cavaliers (Richard Lu) – Ebuka Okorie, G, Stanford
The Cavaliers got closer to the finals, but weren’t quite able to get there. Just when it seemed they found the right mix, James Harden went right back to being in clutch, concerns of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen not being dynamic enough offensively echoed again, and concerns about Donovan Mitchell’s ballhogging tendencies came back. That said, they are still a prolific regular season team, and they’ll continue to contend, even if they’re a notch below the real contenders.
Ebuka Okorie is an athletic combo guard that can score and defend. He’ll need to be a more consistent player in games, but his intriguing skill set and upside could enable him to be a first round pick in this draft.
30. Dallas Mavericks (Richard Lu) – Dailyn Swain, F, Texas
The Mavericks will be building around Cooper Flagg, and whomever they draft here will probably be someone that can play off of him, or be someone that will be a best player on the board pick.
Dailyn Swain is a strong, athletic forward whose versatility and skill set could lend him well towards being a role player in the NBA. He’ll need to improve his outside shot, but his playmaking and defense will be assets at the next level.
