Summary:
DeWayne Russell is a quick, skilled point guard that can score and pass the basketball. He has a solid first step off the dribble, and he has the shooting touch to get numerous scores in the paint. He also is a good playmaker that handles the ball well and has solid court vision, as he can make some sensational passes to set up scoring chances for his teammates.
On the other hand, he can be a streaky shooter, and he does not possess the ideal size to play the point in the NBA, which could hurt him defensively at the next level. He does have a great motor, which helps. In assessing him as an overall prospect, DeWayne Russell may not likely be drafted, but he has the skills to be a good addition to an NBA team’s summer league roster this year.
