Decent rebounder for his size
Adequate defender
Above average athlete
Cons:
Needs to improve his shooting
Can struggle to score in traffic
Can play too wildly on offense
Can be careless on offense, which can lead to turnovers
Struggles to guard quicker players
Not an elite athlete
Underwhelming in his first two seasons in college basketball
Summary:
Devin Askew is a point guard that can effectively run the team with the ball in his hands. He is an unselfish player that will look to move the basketball, and he also can knock down shots on offense. He will need to be much more consistent in games and improve his defense.
He transferred away from Kentucky to play for Texas for his sophomore season, but he didn’t play much or play very well this past year. He will need to work on his significantly jump shot and defense, and Askew will really have to regain the shooting touch that he displayed in high school. If he can do so, he could carve out a playing career in professional basketball sometime in the future.
