2019 rankings were finalized on 6/19/2019.
Height: 6-3
Weight: 195
College: Buffalo
Classification: Senior
Birthdate: 4/14/1997
Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted
Pros:
Fairly good shooter, especially from deep
Adequate scorer off the dribble
Prolific scorer
Decent playmaker
Good rebounder
Cons:
Can struggle to score in traffic
Can be too scoring focused on offense
May be often hidden on weaker matchups defensively
Not a true point guard, but is undersized to play the two
Not an elite athlete
Summary:
C.J. Massinburg is a score-first, combo guard that can get buckets at will, and he was able to score 43 points to help engineer a win over West Virginia early in the season, and he also scored 25 points in a victory over Syracuse.
Right now, he may be a second round prospect for the upcoming draft. He is a prolific scorer that can get buckets in a variety of ways, but concerns about his athleticism, playmaking, and defensive skills could be potential road blocks. In a favorable scenario, he could end up making his way to the association and end up being a similar player to former San Antonio Spurs’ guard, Gary Neal in the NBA.
