Not a true point guard, but is undersized to play the two
Caleb Love is an athletic, skilled combo guard that came in as a highly touted recruit prior to enrolling at North Carolina. He is an aggressive scorer that can take the ball to the rim to score. He also is an active defender that can make numerous plays to help his team on that end of the floor. He will need to show that he can effectively run the point as he largely played off the ball in high school.
During his freshman season, he really struggled to consistently make shots or to effectively run the team at the point, but Love did show flashes of his potential at times. Last year, Love had a good sophomore season. He had a couple of dominant performances in the 2022 NCAA Tournament against UCLA and Duke, but he also really struggled in his team’s championship game loss to Kansas. This season, he didn’t play very well, but he showed his shooting and scoring potential in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Currently, he projects to be a second round prospect for the 2023 draft.
