Updated as of 8/4/2020, scouting report written by Alan Lu.
Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted
Decent shooter, especially from deep
Adequate scorer off the dribble
Handles the ball well
Shooting percentages really tapered off this season
Struggles to consistently create his own shot
Needs to improve his rebounding
Can be unfocused defensively
Not a true point guard, but is undersized to play the two
Only average size for his position
Boogie Ellis is a smart, skilled combo guard that can knock down plenty of jumpers when gets into a rhythm. He made 6 threes and scored 22 points in his team’s win over Illinois-Chicago. However, he really struggled in the second half of the season, as his shooting percentages cratered. He will need to stay in school, but could be a potential second round pick if he plays up to his capabilities in 2021.
