Zavier Simpson

Updated as of 11/21/2020, scouting report written by Alan Lu.
2020 rankings were finalized on 11/17/20.

Height: 6-0
Weight: 190
College: Michigan
Classification: Senior
Birthdate: 2/11/1997

Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted

Pros:

Decent scorer off the dribble
Adequate shooter
Decent playmaker
Good rebounder for his size
Adequate defender

Cons:

Streaky shooter
Needs to improve his free throw shooting
Can be unselfish to a fault
Can be careless on offense, which can lead to turnovers
Can struggle to guard quicker players
Undersized at the point
Not an elite athlete

Summary:

Zavier Simpson is a tough, gritty playmaker that can effectively run a team at the point.  He is having a good senior season this year, as he’s helped lead his team to many wins so far.  On the other hand, he may not be an especially dynamic playmaker, and he can be too passive on offense at times.  Right now, he may be a borderline second round candidate for the 2020 draft, and he could project to be a backup point guard in the NBA.
