Height: 6-8
Weight: 250
College: Chattanooga
Classification: Fifth-Year Senior
Birthdate: 10/7/1998

Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted

Pros:

Adequate low post scorer
Adequate scorer off the dribble
Excels at scoring on off-ball motion plays
Very good rebounder
Decent defender
Decent shot blocker
Solid athlete
Good motor

Cons:

Can miss shots wildly around the basket
Needs to improve his free throw shooting
Must extend his shooting range
Needs to improve his playmaking skills
Can be undisciplined defensively
Hasn’t played much basketball in his collegiate career
Undersized to play inside
Limited experience against top competition
Old for a draft prospect, may have limited upside

Summary:

Silvio De Sousa is an athletic, energetic big man that is having a solid senior season at Chattanooga.  He turned in a very good game in the Southern Conference Championship game, as he scored 17 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to help his team get the overtime win on March 7th.  He still is a long shot to be drafted, and he hasn’t played nearly enough throughout his collegiate career, but he’s been a very good per-minute big man this year for Chattanooga, and his athleticism, motor, and ability to make plays in the paint could give him a shot to compete for a roster spot in the NBA someday.
