Summary:
During the 2020-21 season, Shahada Wells had a tremendous performance in the season opener in Texas-Arlington’s loss to Oklahoma State in a game that featured potential top pick, Cade Cunningham for the 2021 draft, and Wells managed to score 21 points and he also tabulated 6 rebounds and 5 steals for his team.  In that game, Wells made a highlight reel-worthy dunk early on, thrived as a scorer in transition and defender on the court, and he put forth a dazzling performance by consistently making terrific plays on both ends of the court. He then transferred at the end of the season to TCU.

Wells is a speedy, diminutive point guard that was expected to make a significant impact at TCU this past season. However, after transferring to TCU, he barely played and had a hard time getting off the bench, as he averaging a paltry 1.9 points per game, and he really struggled to get minutes before missing the rest of the season due to injury.  Since then, he’s played a little better this season, but has struggled with his outside shot at TCU.

Right now, Wells is an unlikely bet to be drafted. He is a long shot to make it to the NBA, but if he does find a way to do so, he could project into a backup role as a point guard that could provide some scoring, occasional playmaking skills, and tenacious defense off the bench at that level.
