Updated on 6/29/23. Written by Alan Lu.

Height: 6-2
Weight: 185
College: Oakland
Classification: Fifth-Year Senior
Birthdate: 6/1/2000

Projected Draft Range: Likely Undrafted

Pros:
Decent scorer off the dribble
Adequate playmaker
Adequate defender
Solid athlete

Cons:
Needs to improve his shooting
Prone to hoisting up questionable shots
Can be too scoring focused on offense
Can play too wildly on offense
Not a true point guard, but is undersized to play the two

Summary:
Rocket Watts is a speedy, skilled combo guard that can put up points in a hurry, and he could project to be a microwave type of scorer in the NBA.  His jump shot, combined with his athleticism and scoring skills could make him an intriguing prospect for NBA teams to consider for the next level.

He can sometimes look for his own offense a little too much, and he can be a very streaky shooter, but he is also a confident, aggressive scorer that can get any shot he wants on the floor.  He had a solid showing as he scored 20 points in his team’s December 1st, Champions Classic win over Duke. Rocket Watts played this past season at Mississippi State, and he currently projects to be a borderline second round candidate for the 2024 draft.
