Summary:
Kenny Baptiste is an athletic swingman that has been playing well in his role in France’s top league this year. He can operate as a point forward, and he is comfortable being a tall ball handler. He also is a long, athletic player that has shown the potential to make plays on both ends of the floor.
On the downside, there are concerns about if his jump shot will translate to the NBA level. Baptiste doesn’t shoot very often and while he’s noticeably improved his three-point shot, he is a low volume offensive player that is still a bad free throw shooter. He also doesn’t seem to defend as well as he is capable of, and he tends to take too many plays off on the defensive end of the floor.
Currently, he projects to be a borderline second round candidate in the 2022 draft. His length, athleticism, and solid production overseas could merit a selection for him late in the second round next year, but he’ll have to show teams that he will need to show a better motor, and he’ll also need to prove to teams that he’ll be able to knock down outside shots consistently in the NBA.
