Updated on 2/8/23.  Written by Alan Lu.

Height: 6-6
Weight: 240
College: Virginia
Classification: Fifth-Year Senior
Birthdate: 5/14/2000

Projected Draft Range: Likely Undrafted

Pros:

Decent low post scorer
Decent mid-range shooter
Adequate scorer off the dribble
Sets solid screens for his teammates on offense
Solid rebounder
Adequate defender
Has solid strength

Cons:

Needs to improve his three-point shooting
Reluctant to take threes
Needs to improve his passing ability
Can have lapses defensively
Not an elite athlete
Can struggle against length and athleticism

Summary:

Jayden Gardner is a strong, physical forward that can take opponents off the dribble to score, and he also has a reliable mid-range shot.  Last year, he played very well in his team’s February 7th win over Duke, and he and his team played tough, swarming defense on Paolo Banchero, as they limited him to just 9 points.

Gardner is a productive forward that has excelled at the collegiate level, but he will need to add a reliable three-point shot to his arsenal and he will need to improve his playmaking skills.  Currently, Gardner projects to be a borderline second round candidate for the 2023 draft.
