Hasahn French is a tough, physical combo forward that could project to be a defensive specialist in professional basketball. He is a very good rebounder, and he can block shots to help his team protect the paint. He also has a solid set of moves that he can use to score in the post.
On the downside, he’ll need to vastly improve his skills on the offensive end. French is not a very good shooter and he also does not take any threes in games. He’s also a very bad free throw shooter, as he’s never made 40% of his free throws in any college basketball season, so there’s not much hope that he can develop any sort of reliable jump shot outside of the paint area.
French is an undersized big man that doesn’t seem to possess the perimeter skills needed to be able to transition to play small forward, but his lack of size to play inside may make it tough for him to guard taller players. He may be a long shot to be drafted in 2021, but his motor and willingness to bang inside could allow him to carve out a lengthy career in professional basketball.
