Donta Scott

Updated on 3/24/21.  Written by Alan Lu.

Height: 6-7
Weight: 225
College: Maryland
Classification: Sophomore
Birthdate: 12/4/2000

Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted

Pros:
Solid shooter, especially from deep
Adequate scorer off the dribble
Can post up smaller players
Decent playmaker
Decent rebounder
Adequate defender
Above average athlete

Cons:
Lacks an elite first step off the dribble
Needs to improve his free throw shooting
Can struggle to score in traffic
Unselfish to a fault
Struggles to guard quicker players
Not an elite athlete

Summary:
Donta Scott is an athletic combo forward that could project into a 3 and D type of role in the NBA.  He is shooting the three-ball very well this season as a sophomore. On the other hand, his middling free-throw percentage may be a bit alarming for a prospect that projects to be a shooter at the next level. Currently, he projects to be a borderline second round candidate for the 2021 draft.
