Summary:
Desure Buie is a quick, agile playmaker that could certainly help his team on offense. He is a good shooter that can make jumpers off the catch or dribble, and he has plenty of range on his shot. He also is a crafty scorer that can score on strong drives to the hoop, though he may not look to get all the way to the rim nearly as often. Though he is a score-first lead guard, he has good court vision that allows him to find teammates on the move to set up scores for his teammates.
On the downside, his lack of size may make it difficult for him to defend taller players. He also plays in a 2-3 matchup zone defense, so sometimes he guards an area but not a man, so he may be prone to allowing shooters to score on jump shots. He also played at a relatively small D1 school, so the level of competition he’s faced also may be a minor concern.
Most likely, he will have to prove that he can fare well at higher levels, but his ability to make shots and run the team’s offense could allow him to compete for a roster spot in the NBA.
