Thoughts on Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson, and Henri Veesaar in the North Carolina-Kansas Game

November 11th, 2025

By Alan Lu

This time around, I decided to take the time to watch Caleb Wilson and North Carolina face off against Darryn Peterson and Kansas in a November 7th college basketball game.  Wilson and Peterson are two immensely talented prospects that could both go in the top 5 of the 2026 draft.  It was a very entertaining, fast paced game that was competitive for most of the way, and then North Carolina had a tremendous second half to run away with the victory.  Here are my thoughts on how Peterson, Wilson, and other various prospects fared, as well as how they currently may stack up as prospects for the NBA.

Kansas’ freshman guard, Darryn Peterson scored 22 points, as he made 3 threes, had 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block in his team’s loss to North Carolina. (Photo: Chris Seward/Assoicated Press, via Yourbasin)

Darryn Peterson played very well in his team’s tough loss to North Carolina.  He is a very athletic, exceptionally skilled scorer that did a great job of making shots from all over the floor, and he also showed off a very good set of all-around skills.

Peterson shot the ball very well, especially from the outside.  He has a very quick release, and he did a great job of making threes off the catch.  He also ran off of a ball screen to make a deep three quickly.  Plus, he did a great job of running off the ball to make quick mid-range jumpers.  He also did a very good job of scoring off the dribble.  He showed that he can score on floaters and running layups and showed deft footwork, but sometimes he would struggle to finish plays in traffic.

He also displayed satisfactory playmaking skills.  Peterson made a variety of crisp passes, as he excelled at making passes off the dribble and finding teammates on the move to set up scores for them.  However, sometimes he would over-dribble, which would lead to some turnovers.

Also, Peterson was able to haul in a few boards when he was on the floor.  He also defended well.  He would poke balls and jump on loose balls to help his team get steals, and he also rotated to block a shot off the dribble.  On one play though, he fouled an opponent when defending in the post.

In general, Darryn Peterson had a strong showing in his team’s tough loss to North Carolina.  He did everything well in this game, he is a very athletic scorer whose sharpshooting, shot creation skills, and two-way ability could enable him to be the top pick of the 2026 draft, and he could end up being a superstar in the NBA.

Caleb Wilson had a tremendous showing in his team’s win over Kansas.  He is a tall, very athletic forward that really excelled at making plays on both ends of the floor.

Wilson did a great job of scoring in the post.  He showed great balance, footwork, and shooting touch to consistently score the basketball.  He would often score on tough, turnaround, fadeaway jumpers, and he also was able to use a pump fake to score once while getting fouled.  He also was adept at using quick moves to get to the rim to score off the dribble, and he showed both a great touch, athleticism, and a knack for drawing fouls to get to the free throw line.  He also was very skilled at scoring on hustle plays, as he would throw down dunks off of put backs, cuts, and in transition.

He also displayed solid playmaking skills.  Wilson threw good touch passes, and he also showed the ability to make passes off the dribble, as he tended to make good reads on the floor.  He also handled the ball very well. But there was one play though where he threw a hasty pass that got intercepted once.

Also, Wilson showed a solid ability to rebound the basketball.  He also defended well.  He is a very athletic, rangy defender that would use his length and athleticism to intercept passes, poke balls, and he also dove on the ground to get steals to help secure possessions for his team.  On the downside, he would sometimes get outmuscled when defending in the post, which would lead him to allow scores.

In summary, Caleb Wilson played very well to help his team get a win, and he is a smart, skilled forward that could be a likely top 5 pick in the 2026 draft, and he could end up being a star player in the NBA.

Henri Veesaar had a solid showing in his team’s win over Kansas.  After having a slow start, he had a great second half to get North Carolina the early season victory.

Veesar did a great job of scoring on smooth three-pointers, and on powerful dunks off of rolls to the rim.  He was quite active at scoring on hustle plays, and he also used a pump fake and drove into the post to score on a turnaround jumper.

As a playmaker, he was perhaps above average.  He was quite turnover prone aerly on, as he had a tendency to get balls poked away from him when handling it, and he had trouble protecting the ball, which led him to commit frequent turnovers in the first half.  Veesaar did a good job of passing the basketball, and he is a patient passer that would find the open man.  He also was great at using his size and wide frame to set numerous screens to help get his teammates open driving lanes and cuts to set up scores for them.

Also, he was able to chip in to get a couple of boards on both sides of the ball.  Veesaar also defended well.  He would use his length to actively contest and block shots both outside and in to force misses.  He provided a strong post presence to make it difficult for his opponents to handle the ball or get clean shots up.  On the other hand, he also tended to commit reach-in fouls due to over-aggressiveness.

Overall, Henri Veesaar played well in his team’s win over Kansas, and he was much more assertive in the second half.  He is a skilled, mobile big man that has a variety of skills that can be useful to the next level, and he could end up going in the late first to the second round range for the 2026 draft.

Bryson Tiller is a strong, mobile stretch big that did a great job of making spot-up threes off the catch in the first half for Kansas.  He is a sharpshooter that ran off of a ball screen quickly to make one deep early on.  He was also active defensively, as he was able to rotate to contest a drive to force a miss.  On the other hand, he missed on a turnaround jumper in the post, committed a foul when defending a screen, and he was both underutilized and ineffective in the second half after having an excellent first half.

Overall, Tiller is a promising prospect that could end up being a first round pick in the future.  He’ll need to get more playing time, as well as improve his rebounding, but he is a skilled, mobile stretch big that could end up being a solid role player in the NBA.

Seth Trimble also played well in his team’s win over Kansas.  He is a very athletic combo guard that excelled at scoring on strong, speedy drives to the hoop.  He has quickness and ball-handling moves that can allow him to get past his man, and he would regularly score around the basket.  On the downside, he struggled more to make outside shots, and he missed all of his three-point shots.

He also displayed satisfactory playmaking skills.  Trimble also rebounded and defended very well.  He was able to rotate to block a shot off of a drive due to possessing good athleticism, timing, and instincts.  He also would apply good pressure and poke balls away to get steals and deflections.

Overall, Trimble is an athletic, skilled combo guard that showed off a very solid set of all-around skills.  He’ll need to improve his outside shot, but he is a versatile player that could end up being a solid second round pick in the 2026 draft.

Tre White also played fairly well in his team’s loss to North Carolina.  He is a versatile player that primarily scored on hustle plays.  He also was able to use a crafty pump fake to draw free throws on a pull-up, mid-range jumper.  Despite being streaky with his outside shot, White also made a smooth three-pointer early on.

On the downside, he was quite turnover prone.  He would sometimes mishandle the ball or threw hasty passes, which would lead to turnovers.  Though he didn’t get many boards in this game, he was able to get a rebound on each side of the ball.  White also defended well.  He was able to poke a ball away to help his team get a steal.  He also rotated to block a shot to stop a fast break.

Overall, White had a decent showing in this game, and he is a versatile role player that could project into a useful, 3 and D role at the NBA level.

Kohl Rosario is an agile, high-motor player that played well for Kansas in his team’s loss to North Carolina.  He is a glue guy that projects well into a 3 and D role.  He did a great job of making threes, as he made one off the catch, and he also used a nice shot fake and showed good footwork to make a smooth step-back three another time.

He also defended very well.  Rosario was able to run in to poke a ball away to get a steal.  He also rotated to block a shot from behind.  Plus, he also successfully drew a charge from an opposing ball handler around mid-court.

Overall, Rosario is a smart, skilled swingman that had a strong showing in this game, and he is a second round prospect that could project well into a 3 and D role in the NBA.

Also, North Carolina’s 6-10 sophomore big man, Zayden High was able to make a step-back three, as well as draw free throws from the post to showcase his versatile scoring skills and promising jump shot.  He is an agile, stretch big that could be a solid rotation player for North Carolina, and he could be an NBA draft prospect to watch in the future.

All in all, those are my thoughts on how Peterson, Wilson, and other various prospects fared in this game. It was a fun match, as it was close in the first half, and North Carolina ended up getting a double-digit win. Both Peterson and Wilson played extremely well, and both could end up being top 3 picks in the 2026 draft. Thanks for reading.
