Height: 6-5
Weight: 185
College: California Baptist
Classification: Sophomore
Birthdate: 1/15/2002

Projected Draft Range: 2nd Round to Undrafted

Pros:

Decent scorer off the dribble
Solid playmaker
Solid rebounder for his size
Decent defender
Above average athlete
Versatile guard that can play either backcourt position

Cons:

Needs to improve his shooting
Lacks an elite first step off the dribble
Can over-dribble into traffic, can be turnover prone
Can be undisciplined defensively
Not an elite athlete
Limited experience against top competition

Summary:

He is a tall, pass-first point guard from Australia that has been receiving some draft buzz, most notably from former ESPN’s draft analyst Chad Ford this season.  Taran Armstrong has quietly had a solid freshman season, though he’s posted numbers against lukewarm competition, and he didn’t play well at all against Texas.  He’s also not a tremendous athlete, so NBA scouts and teams may have to decide if they want to draft him based on his feel for the game and skills.  Currently, Armstrong projects to be a second round prospect whenever he elects to enter the NBA draft.
